Kai Lindemann is best known for his abstract paintings, prints, and sculptures. Especially within his paintings, he is known to typically use a multitude of saturated colors, and it is said to be the cultivation between color, light, and form that is the actual center of his compositions.
His early work was influenced by the abstract expressionist movement that emerged in America in the 1940s and 1950s, as well as by the COBRA group, a collective of European avant-garde artists that included Asger Jorn and Pierre Alechinsky. His paintings from this period often feature bold colors, gestural marks, and textured surfaces. In the 1960s and 1970s, Kai Lindemann began to incorporate geometric shapes and patterns into his work, creating abstract compositions that were both structured and organic.
This oil on canvas painting is signed ‘Kai Lindemann’ and dated ‘1964’ on its reverse side. Also, it is titled ‘Rød episode’ which translates directly to ‘Red episode’ from Danish. The painting carries its original wooden frame.
The condition of the painting is good. Expect natural wear consistent with its age.
